Pre-Employment Testing Required
This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. Please read the job description in its entirety for additional information on accessing the assessment. The assessment should be completed by Sunday, March 31st, 2024.
About Baytown
With a population of more than 77,000, Baytown, Texas, is located in the Gulf Coast region of the United States, just east of Houston, the nation's fourth largest city. Its scope of products includes fuels, lube oils, and chemical compounds used in a diverse range of products, from auto battery cases, diapers and tire inner tubes to pharmaceutical uses, food packaging, trash bags and more.
The Baytown area sites are highly integrated, which makes the plants and products more efficient as we develop technologies to make cleaner fuels and work together to operate more safely and reliably.

What role you will play in our team
- BTEC Operations Services technician supporting projects, maintenance, and site Infrastructure work activities for pilot plants, laboratories, and site facilities.
- Specific positions will be determined based on interest, skills, and experience.
- Positions available are mechanical, instrument, electrical, process analyzer, utilities, & warehouse.
- Standard work schedules are 5x8 M-F and 4x10 M-T, day shifts with callouts and overtime during off hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Schedules are determined by specific service function and are not optional.
What you will do
Specific Functions
- Perform field service duties and installations of new equipment, troubleshooting, maintenance, & repair.
- Provide contractor workforce oversight for specific craft duties.
- Perform pre-task preparations for assigned work. (e.g., procedures, permits, JLAs, tools, etc.)
- Perform administrative tasks timely and accurate, update documentation, customer feedback, time keeping, etc..
- Responsible for timely completion of assigned training modules.
- Demonstrate leadership skills and ongoing proficiency in all aspects of the work carried out.
- Collaborate with support teams including projects, technical, planning, execution, and operations effectively.
- Understand and utilize risk management and safe work execution tools effectively to manage risks and promote improvements. "

About You
Skills and Qualifications
- 2-year associates degree, certificate, or equivalent experience related to open positions in petrochemical or research industries.
- Hands on craft skills and knowledge preferred
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organization skills, motivated, and enjoys working in team atmosphere
- Desire to learn new skills
- Able to use appropriate hand and power tools, mechanical diagnostic equipment, and operate equipment.
- General computer skills to perform administrative tasks and software knowledge of MS Office, SAP, AutoCAD/Desk Vault.
- Able to read, understand, and update P&ID’s, engineering drawings, electrical schematics, and plot plans.
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
- Experience with installation and maintenance of industrial process equipment specific to service function. Examples include electrical control, instrumentation, motor controls (VFD), automated control systems (PLC), heat tracing systems, temperature, pressure, level, flow instrument, control valves and DCS system.
- Experience with installation, operation, and maintenance for Process Analyzers including sample conditioning and auxiliary equipment.
- Skilled in the use of measuring tools such as multi-meter, voltage tester, field communicator, etc.
- Experienced in complex mechanical tubing systems, rotating & fixed equipment, and custom fabrication.
- Mechanical equipment repair of pumps, blowers, compressors, and feeders.
- Lathe or CNC Machining & custom metal fabrication experience
- Understanding of QA/QC inspections & preventative maintenance.

Pre-employment Testing Requirement
This Operations and Mechanical (O&M) position requires pre-employment testing. After applying you will receive a pop up giving you access to the assessment. You may take the assessment at that time or utilize the instructions below to access the assessment at a time convenient for you. Note that the assessment must be completed by the deadline in order for you to be considered for the O&M position for which you have applied.
IMPORTANT
The O&M test has been revised. Effective December 1, 2021 ALL candidates must complete the revised assessment. Even if you have tested within the last 365 days (passed or failed), you must complete the revised assessment to be considered for this O&M opportunity. Failure to complete the assessment by the deadline will result in your disqualification from consideration for this position.
Test passed candidates will be screened by the hiring team and a subset invited for interview. Note that a satisfactory result on the assessment does not guarantee an interview.
