Job Summary:
The Operations Manager of Materials Management oversees the daily functions of the Materials Management Department within a hospital setting. This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless flow of operations to supply hospital units with essential resources for patient care while adhering to industry best practices in inventory and supply management. Leading a team, the Operations Manager is responsible for optimizing supply chains, controlling costs, and upholding quality standards to enhance overall patient outcomes.
Essential Functions:
Supervise and direct departmental staff to efficiently procure, store, and distribute supplies.
Implement and maintain best practices in inventory management to minimize waste, manage costs, and maintain optimal stock levels.
Collaborate with MGB to standardize product offerings, ensuring superior quality, reduced costs, and consistent product availability across departments.
Develop and enforce policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Utilize data analysis and technology to optimize supply chain processes and enhance operational efficiency.
Provide comprehensive training and ongoing support to staff, empowering them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in supply chain management.
Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the department.
Serve as a liaison between hospital units and Materials Management to address supply-related concerns and ensure timely delivery of essential products.
Participate in hospital-wide initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and outcomes through effective supply chain management.
Maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and unit leadership to secure reliable and cost-effective supply sources.
Works with Director on the formulation, revision, and implementation of policies to improve the overall Materials Management operation.
In collaboration with MGB Contracting, resolves product recalls and manages documentation.
Assist the Director in the development of annual operating and capital budgets, leveraging financial insights to drive strategic decision-making and resource allocation.
Manage operating budgets for assigned cost centers, conducting monthly variance analyses, and implementing corrective action plans to ensure fiscal responsibility.
Reports, collaborates, and updates key members of MGB MVAT and NWH VAT monthly to ensure key targets and objectives are met.
Oversees mail, receiving, and dock coordination activities, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of supplies.
Provides coverage for OR Operations Manager ensuring continuity and support as needed.
Performs other functions and responsibilities as assigned by the Director necessary to achieve and maintain operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; MBA in Business Administration or Supply Chain Operations preferred.
Experience
Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in Materials Management within a healthcare setting, with at least 3-4 years in a management role.
