Job Summary
The Operations Manager will play a critical role in managing the day-to-day operations of a university consortium focused on human, food, and agriculture resiliency. The Operations Manager will have primary responsibility for managing events, communication, and the budget for the consortium.
This role will support the formation of a research consortium with leading experts across multiple disciplines and sectors and the development of a research agenda and identify ways for the consortium to expand its impact. The consortium will engage with university researchers with a focus on characterizing and mitigating catastrophic risk to the nation's food, agriculture, and health systems. The activities of the consortium will focus on identifying the capabilities, research, and overarching approach for creating and executing a risk assessment approach that can be used to inform and develop a national strategy.
The Operations Manager will provide input into the development and execution of the consortium, manage all events and conferences for the consortium, provide ongoing communication support for the consortium, and partner to manage the budget for the consortium, as well as contracting with appropriate internal stakeholders. The individual in this role must have awareness of budget, goals, and constraints and manage the university consortium with fiscal responsibility.

Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, higher education, communications, veterinary medicine, food science, health, or other related field
- 4 years of experience with project or program management, business development, research administration, management, or facilitation/coordination required
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered (Associate's degree + 6 years of experience; HS/GED + 8 years of experience)
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Strong writing and demonstrated ability to successfully communicate and engage with a wide range of audiences
- Ability to meet deadlines and concurrently manage multiple projects
- A strong commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Ability to build mutually beneficial relationships and integrate well into a highly collaborative and results-driven culture
- Ability to develop relationships across the university and engage with internal and external stakeholders including faculty, staff, corporations, government officials, or other relevant organizations
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills, as well as the ability to prioritize work and manage within limited resources
- Ability to handle confidential information appropriately
Preferred:
- Master's degree in business, higher education, communications, veterinary medicine, food science, health, or other related field
- Department of Defense or Department of Homeland Security experience
