Operations Manager - Distribution

Our client is a distributor of interior and exterior construction products. They are located in 23 states and committed to a safe, well-organized work environment that is based on a spirit of cooperation, enthusiasm, open communications and teamwork.

They are searching for an Operations Manager for the facility in Olive Branch, MS. The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the 25,000 sq. ft. distribution center and 15-20 team members. He or she will oversee the receiving, warehousing, and shipping of products to ensure that orders are filled accurately and efficiently. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing operational procedures and ensuring that all safety and security regulations are followed. Additionally, the Operations Manager will be responsible for managing a team of employees and ensuring that they are properly trained and motivated. The ideal candidate will have experience in distribution and warehouse operations, as well as management. He or she will be organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of operations, including inbound/outbound logistics, warehouse management, and transportation
• Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiencies and reduce costs
• Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and customers
• Monitor compliance with safety regulations and quality standards
• Supervise and train staff
• Insure overall organization and flow of internal business processes such as order fulfillment
• Prepare and submit reports on operations and activity
• Resolve issues and problems that arise in operations
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions
• Payroll preparation including footage delivery records, time-slips and appropriate adjustments
• Administration of vacation, sick leave, holidays, absenteeism and scheduling for the location
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degr.ee in business, logistics, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of experience in a distribution or warehouse operations role
• Proven track record of successful team leadership and management
• Demonstrated ability to streamline processes and optimize efficiency
• In-depth knowledge of supply chain management principles
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
• Working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and office equipment a plus
• Experience with Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology a plus
