The Operations Manager acts as the face of the company for the local branch and is the liaison between our clients and internal employee’s. They manage the overall operations and are responsible for the effective and successful management of labor, productivity, quality control and safety measures as established and set for the Operations Department.

This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Quality Lab and management of the Quality Technicians. Using Quality Engineer principles work with manufacturing managers to improve manufacturing processes and helping ensure adequate process controls to maintain or improve product quality. Support the Quality and Regulatory Manager in maintaining the Company’s Quality Management System. Report directly to Quality and Regulatory Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • To effectively and efficiently manage personnel in each division to include: hire and maintain a qualified staff, communicate areas of accountability and performance expected, determine standards of performance as a basis for review of personnel, recommend salary adjustments, promotions and dismissals, conduct, ensure and measure proper training of personnel, foster a cooperative and harmonious working climate conductive to maximize employee morale and productivity, and develop individuals for future advancement
  • Oversee the weekly, monthly, and yearly schedule to maximize real time utilization of human resources and to recommend part-time, flexible, and full-time employee mix for division
  • Interface with Solutions and Sales team to ensure smooth coordination of schedule and maximize schedule adherence to correspond with forecasted revenues for the week/month/year. Coordinate real time staffing changes. Enacts contingency plans as needed
  • Escalate and direct activities resulting from problems. Identifies potential problems; troubleshoots and participates in post-mortem analysis of problems providing input for future process improvements
  • Primary client contact for all division services. Project a favorable image of to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance recognition within each account. Establish, grow and maintain a favorable working relationship with all clients
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of this position. Respond to emails or calls immediately
  • Keep immediate Supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance. Take prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action that may be taken
  • Review ongoing performance results to targets. Takes corrective measures with authorization and escalate as needed
  • Participate in daily, weekly, monthly, and annual forecasting and planning processes
  • Review and approve schedules developed by assistants and analysis and work with local management to communicate and fill schedules and handle exceptions
  • Oversee the maintenance and tracking of all divisional assets through inventory control including fleet, equipment, and small wares
  • Work with accounting department to ensure proper invoicing of all clients and help with AR where applicable

Competencies:

  • Operations Managers need to be critical thinkers who can analyze situations and make decisions geared toward the company's best interests rather than those of a single department. This may mean that they also need to resolve conflicts as they arise between employees and set policies and guidelines for how to complete tasks

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related field

Experience: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an emphasis on clarity of mission
  • Writes well, forms concepts, and expresses ideas in an organized fashion
  • Takes initiative, highly organized and able to manage a wide variety of issues and bring them to a timely closure
  • Goal oriented and high energy
  • Perception and judgment required to initiate actions and make decisions within established precedents or well-defined policy with regular managerial direction and review
  • Decisions by the Operations manager directly impact operating costs and influence customer retention and sales
  • Must work well with management peers and create trust and respect with subordinates
  • Analytical skills are important Experience coaching, supervising, and developing staff is critical
  • Operations management or experience in forecasting, scheduling and real-time operations management is preferred
  • Must possess the ability to quickly use Microsoft suite of services (Outlook, Word, Excel) as well as windows-based data base software to schedule jobs and communicate with clients and internal staff
  • Polite, friendly, pleasant, and outgoing with a neat, clean appearance
  • Honest and dependable

Computer Skills:

  • Must possess the ability to quickly use Microsoft suite of services (Outlook, Word, Excel) as well as windows-based data base software to schedule jobs and communicate with clients and internal staff

Certificates & Licenses:

  • Valid Driver’s License, and must be willing to undergo a background check in accordance with local/law regulations

Work environment:

  • Work is performed primarily indoors in commercial facilities during second and third shifts hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate in other situations
