Supervise and coordinate activities of production and maintenance workers; apply quality engineering analysis in customer claims regarding products and utilize Sig Sigma strategy to find root cause; work closely with quality personnel to review products consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement; lead engineering design and development of new products (galvanized and painted pipes); create engineering processes and procedures to help the company meet budgetary targets as wells as performance quotas for manufacturing and production; confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to engineering specification specifications and quality standards; apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential; acts as Manufacturing Engineer to analyze the manufacturing, methods, production processes and also the production schedule involved in delivering the projects; create Value Stream Mapping between the loop of the Plant and Distribution Center; generate Product Cost Analysis to define the best profit mix for manufacturing and production; follow up with Plant KPIs using the 7 quality tools (Histogram, Pareto, Control Charts, Trend Charts, etc.); provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives; review the setup and engineering design of the current products, in order to increase efficiency of production with Copra and Solidworks; reduce the setup times for engineering and manufacturing using SMED (Single Minute Exchange Die); define the Min/Max Stocks of the spare parts through ABC Analysis, in order to increase the inventory turnaround and decrease the inventory cost; implement and follow the TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) engineering plan within the plant; directly and indirectly manage plant engineering operations for production, maintenance, quality and shipping and receiving; develop and control profits, plans, and budget; implement cost effective systems of controls over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries; manage capital asset maintenance.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; 3 years of experience in Operations. Work will be performed at PLM Steel Tubes, in Laredo, TX.
