Operations and Materials Planning Specialist

At Chemlock Nutrition, we're currently looking for a highly skilled and motivated Operations and Materials Planning Specialist with outstanding negotiation andorganizational skills and a passion for figuring out any problem. The ideal candidate is excited by unique challenges faced in the logistics world, has experience dealing in imports/exports to/from the United States, enjoys seeing a process through from start to finish, and is often referred to as a “jack of all trades."

As an Operations and Materials Planning Specialist, you will play a critical role in the movement of animal feed ingredients & packaging - ensuring materials arrive to the final destination in a timely and cost-effective manner. Your responsibilities will involve managing import/export shipments, domestic truck movements from suppliers to strategic warehouse locations, packaging sourcing and continuous improvement, vendor management from PO placement to delivery to a Chemlock warehouse, and overall support of internal and external logistics operations.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

Import/Export Shipments:

• Navigate export regulations into new countries as Chemlock’s customer base grows internationally
• Assist with import movements from PO placement all the way through delivery to a Chemlock warehouse for Chemlock Tradehouse products
• Manage relationships with 3rd parties to ensure a smooth and timely shipment of goods overseas
• Communicate with internal & external stakeholders make sure that shipments are compliant
• Continue to update policies and procedures so Chemlock is protected and providing international customers with the Chemlock Experience®

Domestic Truck Movements:

• Negotiate favorable terms with 3rd party logistics providers to ensure a timely & cost-effective movement of products from domestic sources to strategic warehouse locations
• Communicate with supplier logistics teams to gather all pertinent information for a seamless pickup/delivery
• Work with internal teams on finding strategic suppliers & locations, while running different scenarios and costs to source the best available option
• Ensure that raw materials for work orders are in the correct locations and coordinate movements when necessary

Packaging Sourcing and Continuous Improvements

• Leverage customer complaints, damage claims, and other resources to monitor packaging issues and offer solutions to help mitigate issues in the future
• Source new domestic and international suppliers to help support the continuous improvement of Chemlock packaging to reduce the number of damages on all Chemlock products

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
• Export Regulations & Shipment Management is strongly preferred
• Proven experience as a Logistics Coordinator, preferably in a fast-paced & demanding environment
• Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings and favorable contract terms
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a detail-oriented approach
• Proficiency in using procurement software systems and MS Office applications
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders and build effective relationships with vendors
• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
• Strong comfort with math and numbers to leverage decision making
• Knowledge of relevant industry regulations and compliance standards
