Operational Excellence Lead

The Novelis North America (NNA) team is seeking an Operational Excellence Lead. The person in this role will report to the Director Performance Improvement. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Novelis World Class Manufacturing, as subject matter (Specific Improvement Pillar) authority for the region, leads efforts on quantitative data to support capacity studies, and deployment of target into manufacturing organization. By partnering with plants team, synchronize activities for business analyses that translates data into practical improvement projects, following standardized performance metrics.

 

Support critical manufacturing assets operational target deployments by providing data to critical metric alignment to support consistent deployment.

 

Coordinate across region the vital integration of metrics to assure an effective and reliable information across similar assets into performance measurement data.

 

Coordinate across region the flow of information on potential capacity to supply-chain in the annual plan process. Carries out governance of capacity improvement (non-CAPEX) projects meeting and reviews. 

 

This position will be responsible for mature knowledge in planning and conducting improvement projects having a scope for independent accomplishment and coordination with regional corporate and plant teams.


Responsibilities:

  • This role will lead requirements for creating process-oriented capacity studies leveraging on data models that will support the operational performance improvement agenda. In addition, the function will analyze and interpret data to recommend and influence decisions of the Operation Excellence organization.
  • The Operational Excellence performance improvement lead will support to coordinate key improvement projects and set the highest standards for project management along with quarterly governance.
  • Support the development and implementation of capacity studies, policies and practices that proactively address the manufacturing management system development and execution.
  • Ensure consistent application of routine management critical metric trees by process. Supporting frequent performance management auditing.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and support of WCM tools, systems and methodologies to all levels of Novelis management, globally, regionally and locally.
  • Understand the operational performance standardized metrics and provide expertise to support usage by the plants.
  • Support the plants in critical projects, co-leading and hand-on application of WCM methodologies eventually providing training and coaching.
  • Create and maintain an effective communication network with regional leaders, corporate functions
  • Support critical assets of Manufacturing units organizing their plan by supporting regional Factory Models.
  • Ensure consistent critical metric to measurement to supervise operational performance.
  • Support director, cluster leaders VP of Operations in identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Coordinate target deployment process. Applies the methods to estimate potential performance, toward capacity, recovery and cost.
  • Provide insightful review, perspective, and direction on strategy and operating performance
  • Work with company’s leadership to define and drive critical, organizational, and operational improvement recommendations, as well as, new improvement projects.
  • Analyzes and determines key insights from business drivers, competitive environment, trends and operating metrics
  • Manages the quality, usefulness, and integrity of operational data
  • Uses statistical tools to analyze data for trends and establishing reporting as a result
  • Use data to identify and address organizational performance gaps
  • Deploy Master Pilar of Specific Improvement on daily activities at specific critical assets.
  • Provide and support capability building initiatives to develop managerial knowledge to Continuous Improvement engineers
  • Organize continuously capacity reviews of critical assets routines of improvement project, ensure the application of single agenda concept.
  • Ensure the lean manufacturing cultural process change for Operations, focused on development of the best productivity process with low cost and according to the plan.
  • Intensify the use of Lean Methodology in projects across operations reducing waste and increase the earnings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business
  • 5+ years of experience in operation management
  • 3 years of experience with Lean Manufacturing or CI in Operations
  • At least 3 years of analytical experience
  • Certified WCM SI Pillar
  • Excellent communication and influence skills
  • Analytical and strategic, yet highly pragmatic and results-oriented
  • Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of VSM, Lean-/ Kaizen-systematics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-graduation or MBA on Management systems or correlated subjects
  • 3 years of Leading position in Manufacturing
  • 3 years of experience with Lean Manufacturing and experienced with OEE Overall Equipment effectiveness measurement and implementation.
  • Experience with WCM implementation
  • Ability to collaborate with teams across business areas
  • Willingness and ability to with data management

This role’s salary starts from $109,100 per year. Individual pay will vary based on qualifications, experience, and performance. In addition to base salary, this position includes participation in a short-term incentive plan (Annual Incentive Plan - AIP or Plant Performance incentive - PPI).
