- Performs necessary tasks for the Scrub role using technical skills
- Assist the Anesthetist with patient positioning.
- Assures patient/personal safety by maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment
- Assembly, Wrapping, and Sterilization Instruments Sets as necessary.
- Disinfection, Decontamination, and Sterilization of the Surgical Instruments
- Ensure proper instrumentation for each procedure.
- Follows all principles of sterile technique.
- Loading operations of the Stream Sterilizer
- Participates in all counts (instruments, sponges, sharps, etc.) as necessary
- Proper Storage and Handling of surgical instruments to include testing of Biological Indicators
- Assists with the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- All Health Care Providers (HCPs) will document care delivered and follow-up care required.
- Attends and participates in a variety of meetings and task force groups to improve quality and outcomes, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain a specific level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, new task efforts, and new policy requirements.
- Maintain the highest regard for patient dignity and observe the precepts of the American Hospital Association's Bill of Rights for patients.
- Assists with the managing of day-to-day activities and prioritizing tasks.
- Operates personal computer to access e-mail, electronic calendars, and other basic office support software.
- Complies with all applicable Acuity standards and guidelines.

- High School graduate or GED
- Two years experience as a surgical technician is required or have the military equivalent training course with Certificate of Completion (i.e. 68D, HM8483, 4N1x1)
- Completed certification testing by the Association of Surgical Technologists is desirable.
- Have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Surgical technologists need manual dexterity to handle instruments quickly.
- Surgical technologists must be conscientious, orderly, and emotionally stable to handle the demands of the operating room environment.
- Technicians must respond quickly and must be familiar with operating procedures to have instruments ready for surgeons without having to be told.
- Participate in training, (including HIPAA training)
- All health care providers and medical support staff must have recent clinical experience in patient care for at least 6 months out of the past year.
- Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License
- Must have a current U.S. Passport.
- Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write, and communicate in English.
- Work hours are based on a 72-hr. work week; typically six 12-hour days but other variations may apply.
- Requires a favorably adjudicated Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) investigation conducted by the Department of State, Bureau of Diplomatic Security.
- Must sign an International Assignment Agreement (IAA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the IAA.
- Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance with Acuity Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
- Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment; travel in Iraq is required by surface or air.
- The climate is desert-like, hot, and prone to dust storms.
