SUMMARY:
Experienced online adult ABE/ESL instructor to provide a high-quality online classroom environment for adult English language learners.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This class specification lists the major duties and requirements of the job and is not all-inclusive. Incumbent(s) may be expected to perform job-related duties other than those contained in this document and may be required to have specific job-related knowledge and skills.

• Teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to adults online (Google Meet) using listening, pronunciation/speaking, reading, writing and grammar as a part of student-based learning
• Anti-racism and equity at the focus of your work
• Align instruction to MN ABE Content Standards (CCRS, ACES/TIF, Northstar Digital Literacy)
• Analyze student needs and assess progress with CASAS/TABE assessments
• Use appropriate techniques for individual learning styles
• Provide for individual as well as group learning by use of computer-assisted instruction or other methods preferred by the adult learner
• Coordinate volunteer-student assignments by determining selection of materials, supervising student's progress, and assessing needs and performance
• Responsible for record keeping for class and for accurately recording attendance, student progress, reasons for leaving, etc.
• Participate staff meetings as assigned by coordinator
• Manage classroom and learning labs to facilitate learning and retention of students
• Maintain levels of training criteria established by State Department of Education

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in education, or a closely related field.
• Experience teaching adult English language learners.
• MA in Adult ESL preferred.

Required Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.

• Driver's license.
• Minnesota Teaching License (may apply for a Tier 1 license with district sponsorship).

• MN ABE Core Content Standards.
• State and Federal laws and regulatory issues governing public education, including rules and regulations of the Minnesota Department of Education.

• Digital literacy skills related to effectively teaching online.
