What we are looking for:

JARS is seeking a full-time Onboarding Specialist to join our HR team at our Troy, MI headquarters. Working closely with the HR Generalist and HR Director, the Onboarding Specialist facilitates human resources onboarding processes across multiple platforms and retail locations for new employees. Similarly, the Onboarding Specialist will also be responsible for offboarding and termination procedures. The Onboarding Specialist will handle a variety of HR duties in support of the employee life cycle, onboarding & offboarding, special projects and recruiting efforts.

The Onboarding Specialist responsibilities include benefits, recruiting, and administration, as well as support for all functional areas of HR.
This is a great stepping stone position for anyone passionate about the field of Human Resources and has a keen interest in a corporate retail setting.

Job Duties

  • Manages administration of HR processes for onboarding, employee changes, and offboarding
  • Handling basic HR administrative tasks such as creating files, completing employment documentation/verifications, etc.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for employees during their onboarding process
  • Handling and filing new hire paperwork and termination paperwork
  • Ensure onboarding procedures are being conducted in accordance to State, City and CRA (Cannabis Regulatory Agency) laws and regulations
  • Conducts necessary background checks, MVR reports, etc.
  • Provides support in the delivery of HR projects such as acquisitions and integrations
  • Maintains and updates employee data in HRIS (hiring, employee changes, accruals, terminations, etc.)
  • Assist with the staffing, interview and selection process of leadership and non-leadership roles
  • Troubleshoot tier one HRIS issues, including login issues
  • Adheres to existing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, corporate policies, and business objectives
  • Supports our corporate office with projects as needed
  • Any other duties as assigned by manager

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Prefer 1-2 years' previous work experience in HR
  • Strong analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and handle sensitive data securely
  • Ability to work independently and as a solid team player
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks
  • Strong customer service mind-set
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite and Microsoft Teams is a must
  • Demonstrates proactive attitude and is resourceful
