The O&M Project Manager (PM)/ Estimator is responsible for, and shall exhibit extreme ownership of, all aspects of the assigned projects. The PM position requires a great deal of attention to detail, planning, foresight, a high degree of self-motivation, discipline, high initiative, and trust. The PM’s responsibility begins with design/bid and is carried out through project closeout. The PM is responsible for the overall successful completion of multiple O&M projects running simultaneously.
- Promote the company’s safety culture throughout all levels of the organization.
- Develop, with all stakeholders, a comprehensive project execution plan and all other required project specific plans.
- Perform a thorough review and understanding of the project contract documents and develop a contract reference guide to be used by project stakeholders.
- Scope, develop, and propose project concept design to customer for approval.
- Develop detailed estimate of proposed work.
- Perform a thorough review of all drawings, and develop a BOM, pre-fabrication assembly plan, and procurement plan for required project materials, including civil, structural, and mechanical items.
- Develop a subcontracting strategy with the aid of the O&M Manager.
- Work closely with the Project Superintendent, Project Scheduler, and Subcontractors to develop a detailed critical path schedule and Earned Value Measurement workbook.
- Coordinate bi-weekly, or weekly, scheduling meetings to review progress and variations to the project schedule and develop a mitigation strategy when necessary.
- Prepare labor and cash flow forecasts for the life of the project and update throughout the project life cycle.
- Closely monitor costs and measure performance against the estimate and baseline forecast and provide cost to complete forecasts monthly.
- Review and approval of all project related accounts payable.
- Prepare project invoicing utilizing Earned Value, Schedule of Values, Percent Complete, or other methods as specified in the contract.
- Estimate, price, and schedule impacts, and negotiate project change-orders in accordance with the contract documents.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the contract documents.
- Act as the primary resource and point of contact for all internal and external project stakeholders, including inter-company departments, subcontractors, owner/client, engineers, and municipalities.
- Prepare and submit all progress reports as required by the contract or internal project controls requirements.
- Make frequent job-site visits to coordinate with the project superintendent, subcontractors, customer, and other project stakeholders.Attend project kick-off.
- Ensure all project certificates and close-out documents are submitted in accordance with the contract requirements.
- Facilitate post job lessons learned meeting with key project personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Preferred: A two-year degree in engineering, construction management or related field experience.
- Preferred: 5 + years of project management experience and a thorough knowledge of the natural gas industry.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Excellent communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
- Ability to propose solutions and pricing to customers when drawing packages are not provided.
- Ability to anticipate problems and use sound judgement and tact in handling confidential and other matters.
- Familiar with reading and understanding construction critical path schedules and earned value measurement.
- Experience with the software Vista Viewpoint is a plus.
- Proficient in Bluebeam.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated track record of successful goal achievement.
- Demonstrates the ability to read and interpret contracts, budgets, reports, construction drawings and technical manuals.
** Frequent Travel is required (prebids, jobsite visits).
