Job Duties
The Virginia State Police is seeking a professional and courteous team member to serve as a full-time Office Service Specialist in the Bureau of Criminal Investigations in Russell County, Virginia. The role involves maintaining criminal case files and managing cases; compiling and composing reports and correspondence; collecting, organizing, and managing administrative files; processing and operating computer systems or required reports; managing supply inventory; sending and receiving electronic mail; and receiving visitors and telephone messages.

Maintains criminal case files and case management.
Compiles and composes reports/correspondence.
Prepares and maintains administrative files and provides administrative support.
Processes and operates computer system for required reports/voucher/petty cash reimbursements/supply inventory and maintenance/Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) for case number assignment and weekly work schedule.
Sends and receives electronic mail.
Receives visitors and telephone messages.
Minimum Qualifications
Working knowledge of general office and clerical practices and procedures; of basic mathematics; of office equipment;
and of standard English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage.
Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications, and operation of standard office equipment. Demonstrated ability to maintain files and records; to compose correspondence; to enter data into databases and maintain confidentiality; to interpret and follow oral
and written instructions; to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English with staff and the public; to work
independently and as a member of a team; to gather data and report statistics; and to develop formats for special
projects and on-going projects through innovative computer usage.
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Some clerical and date entry experience required.
Must be qualified to serve as a Notary Public.
