Occupational Therapy Assistant Certified (Mvr & Rds)

• Position Summary
  • Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist plans, organizes, and conducts Occupational Therapy programs in a variety of sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help patients regain physical or mental functioning or adjust to their handicaps. Teaches patient skills and techniques required for participation in activities. Studies and evaluates patient reactions to the program and prepares progress reports. Conducts services in a variety of settings including acute care, outpatient, home health, skilled nursing facility, etc.

  • Work Experience
    • Healthcare experience preferred.
  • 
    Education
    • Successful completion of an Occupational Therapy Assistant program at a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association or the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association required.
  • 
    Certifications/Licensure
    • Currently certification (active or temporary) as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant in the Commonwealth of Kentucky required.
    • Valid Driver's License Required.
    • Motor vehicle record check required and will be performed annually.
    • Personal vehicle is routinely used for company business, home visits or required for the position. The employee is responsible to maintain KY minimum limit of insurance coverage on the personal vehicle and maintain the vehicle in good operating condition.

    • Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist administers medically prescribed Occupational Therapy treatment for patients to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
    • Promotes patient to returning to pre-morbid functioning through a variety of program implementation.
    • Documents treatment, response, and progress in patient’s chart or enters information in computer.
    • Instructs patient and family in treatment procedures to be conducted.
    • Under the direction of the Occupational Therapist evaluates, fits, and adjusts prosthetic and orthotic devices and recommends modification.
    • Confers with physician and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program, and integrate Occupational Therapy treatment with other aspects of patient’s health care.
    • Orients, instructs, and directs work activities of aides, technicians, and students.
