Job Title: Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
Introduction:
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants at Community Connections for Independent Living, LLC are fundamental members of our residents’ rehabilitation team and vital in upholding the organizations’ mission and philosophy through a comprehensive and collaborative therapeutic approach.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist:
1. Be proficient in and integrate the Occupational Therapy Practice Framework throughout all programming sessions
2. Develop, implement, and support our residents’ individualized programming within a therapeutic milieu that is safe and respectful of their autonomy and rights
3. Perform therapeutic sessions/evaluations in the residents' home and/or community environment, with an emphasis on IADLs
4. Utilize critical thinking skills to develop innovative strategies that support resident goals and objectives
5. Collaborate with external team members and stakeholders to enhance therapeutic success and satisfaction of our residents, while demonstrating excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Provide transportation of residents to necessary appointments and/or community outings
7. Lead therapeutic groups on-site and/or within the community to support resident's treatment objectives and social/leisure participation
8. Encourage and promote community inclusion of our residents based upon their interests and avocations
9. Perform all duties and responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner, in accordance with established standards of practice and company policies and procedures
10. Adhere to Community Connections for Independent Living, LLC policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and electronic platforms
11. Complete additional training throughout employment, as recommended and/or required
Required Qualifications and Education:
1. Completion of an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program
2. State licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant
3. Possess and maintain BLS certification
4. Possess and maintain valid Michigan Operator’s License
Supervision:
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants function under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Services.
