UM, Capital Region, a member of the University of Maryland Medical System is looking for an Advanced Practice Practitioner to join Obstetrics team to meet increasing clinical demand at UM Capital Region Health located in its new state-of-the-art facility in Largo, MD.
Job specifics:
The APP will perform routine and expanded job descriptions as listed in the provider’s delegation agreement on file with the Maryland Board of Physicians or Maryland Board of Nursing. Under the direction of a physician, the APP will:
- Evaluate and address medical problems specific to obstetric care,
- First assist in C-sections and GYN surgeries.
- Participate in emergency room/floor consults
- Effectively request consultation of other specialties when indicated,
- Demonstrates competence and skill while performing in the operating room/emergency room
- Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in the management of basic medical and post-op surgical problems, i.e., SOB, fever
- Maintains a list of in-house patients and makes rounds daily. Writes progress notes with appropriate updates regarding results of studies, notations regarding procedures and/or surgery and outline of therapeutic plan.
- Perform postpartum and post op follow up, admissions, and discharges
- Create diagnostically appropriate treatment plans,
- Document all medical evaluation, history, physical, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, and referrals consistent with The Joint Commission, state regulatory standards, and evidence-based standards of care. Maintains documentation compliant coding and billing.
- Function professionally on an interdisciplinary team,
- Utilizes appropriate chain-of-command and communicates with specialties, APP directors, and medical director.
- Cross-cover additional services as experience permits.
- Demonstrates competence and skill in required tasks and procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge of and competency in required subspecialty.
- Completes at least 50 hours of Category I CME every two years.
- Performs according to Maryland BOP standards and expanded job description procedural protocols.
- Facilitates excellence in quality assurance and the delivery of patient care as part of our High Reliability Organization.
- Provides optimal quality of patient care while following safety guidelines
- Maintains a procedure complication rate less than the national average.
- Contributes to cohesive group relations; uses open communication to resolve problems in and between departments.
