Description:
The Gynecological Triage Medical Assistant serves as a liaison between patients and physicians in an outpatient nursing role, providing oversight to aspects of nursing services, patient care coordination, and monitoring of quality and safety issues. The primary job function of the GYN Triage Medical Assistant is to triage patient phone calls, asses and make recommendations for follow up treatment, documents follow up care and instructions in the electronic medical record. Additionally, the GYN Triage Medical Assistant is responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care, demonstrating clinical competency to staff
Schedule: Full Time, Mon- Fri

Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience: 3 years of nursing experience obstetrical/gynecological experience or hospital setting strongly preferred.
- LICENSE/CERT/REG: Valid license in Maryland.
- OB/GYN Triage MA/ LPN/Nurse
- RN degree preferred
- Experience in EMR
Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Time management and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks in fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with electronic medical records.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize or assess calls in a fast-paced environment
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates behavior consistent with Capital Women's Care mission, vision, goals, objectives and patient care philosophy
- Answers medical questions from patients via calls or through patient portal
- Calls patients with lab results and counsels them on further directives
- Documents all calls and exchanges with patients in the patient's chart
- Contacts OB no-show patients and explains risks
- Educates non-compliant patients and follows up with them on risks involved
- Provides patients with education about medication dosage, side effects, instructions, etc.
- Educates OB patients with information about pregnancy
- Maintain all letters and documents for New OB Packets and update these documents when necessary, ensure that New OB Packets are created
- Provides infertility counseling to patients
- Schedules patients with serious circumstances for same-day appointments
- Adds HPV to patient's pap tests
- Administers patient's FHT checks
- Performs BP checks when needed
- Performs NST testing on patients
- Examines patients with UTl's when necessary and instructed by doctor.
- Administers BRCA testing when necessary
- Educates GDM pts on diet and glucometer usage
- Communicates effectively w/hospital and on call physician r/t labor checks and/or same day IOLs
Additional Responsibilities may include:
- Call in prescriptions or order via EHR, as needed
- Orders OB supplies for patient education
- Upkeeps the emergency kit in the office and keeps everything up to date
- Administers OSHA training for all employees at the Rockville office
