Job Description
The responsibilities of the Director of the Biostatistics and Data Management Core (BDMC) in the Center for Women's Reproductive Health (CWRH) at UAB are multi-faceted. Overall, the Director will provide statistical expertise to faculty, fellows, and residents in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The Director will contribute to the design and planning of clinical trials and observational studies, coordinate data management and analysis for approved research studies (including coordination of multicenter studies led by Ob/Gyn), supervise the data managers, statisticians and program managers of the BDMC, and oversee the preparation of abstracts, posters, presentations, and manuscripts. The Director will also assist in or lead the preparation of grant applications for extramural funding out of Ob/Gyn as relevant. In addition, the Director will assist as a liaison between the Departments of the School of Public Health (SOPH) and Ob/Gyn to facilitate collaboration between researchers of complimentary expertise to maximize opportunities for high quality and fundable research proposals. The list below highlights specific roles and responsibilities of the BDMC Director: • Delegate data management and analysis responsibilities among BDMC staff • Complete annual performance evaluations for BDMC staff • Monitor effort allocation and advocate for inclusion of BDMC staff in grant funding and allocation commensurate with their efforts • Provide lectures as needed for Ob/Gyn educational programs • Submit grants as relevant for data coordination center, secondary data analysis or training needs. Qualifications: • PhD in Statistics or Epidemiology • At least 5 years of relevant analytic and supervisory experience • Work experience relevant to ObGyn, Pediatrics and/or Women's Health preferred
