GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Crime Victim Services Division of the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking an Assistant Attorney General that provides legal advice, counsel, and assistance; representing the State’s interest in civil and criminal matters; reviewing, evaluating, and rendering legal opinions; preparing legal documentation; and assisting in drafting bills and amendments for legislative consideration. May train others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Assistant Attorney General (AAG) I:
- Education: Graduation from an accredited law school with Juris Doctor degree (J.D.)
- Licensed as an attorney by the State of Texas
- Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
- Knowledge of laws, legal principles and practices relevant to victim matters
- Skill in oral and written communication (writing sample required at time of interview, if selected)
- Skill in legal research and negotiations
- Skill in using a computer for work-processing and data entry/retrieval
- Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
- Skill in exercising sound judgement and effective decision making
- Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
- Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
- Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
- Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 5%
Assistant Attorney General II – All the functions for an AAG I, PLUS:
- Experience: One year of experience working in the following (or closely related) fields as a licensed attorney: Victim Services law
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Other Language: Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak Spanish

- Experience: One year of experience as a licensed attorney
