Job Description:
- Receive and transmit police messages via radio, telephone, and teletype.
- Maintain logs, records and written documents required by the Agency.
- Professional and composed verbal communication with outside police agencies and the public; maintaining sound customer service practices and meeting the needs of the Agency under sometimes stressful conditions is essential.
- This position operates an extensive array of law enforcement and emergency related communications equipment as well as computer software.
- Prioritize all radio and telephone communications. Answer multiple telephone lines. Receive emergency and non-emergency calls for law enforcement and dispatch patrols to respond.
- Make urgent and important decisions regarding emergency situations based on knowledge, skills and policies and procedures.
- Service all walk-in customers.
- Perform administrative duties such as data entry and retrieval, information filing and record keeping.
- Comply with all Federal, State and Local regulations relative to communications and protected data and information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or higher
- One year of experience as a radio dispatcher or call taker (police, fire, emergency medical, mobile fleet, traffic management center, etc.)
- Successfully pass an extensive background check
- Successfully pass a field training program
- Must have strong communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse community
- Must be able to operate and perform under varying degrees of stress and pressure and be able to prioritize emergencies
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays and be flexible with the schedule
- Candidates must have the ability to effectively engage in communications that are often various and multiple
- Must be able to navigate various software technologies including those associated with law enforcement applications and internet-based websites and have excellent data entry skills
Hourly Rate: $22.75 / hour

Schedule:
Candidate must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours a week with the opportunity for 32-40 hours a week as needed.
Will include holiday, night, day, and weekend shifts as operationally necessary
