A Brief Overview
Services Technician Team Leads perform a wide range of duties internally to ensure the ongoing operation of the organization. In the absence of the supervisor the Team Lead takes on the responsibility for the entire shift.
Under the general direction of the Nutritional Services manager and/or department director, coordinates catering functions throughout the shift, meal activities of the tray line, and/or serving food to patients or team members. Leads accurately and efficiently set up, serve, and clean up all designated task functions.
Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Preferred

Experience Qualifications
  • 1 year Service department experience. Required
  • Experience working in a hospital. Preferred
  • Food service experience. Preferred

Skills and Abilities
  • Good working rapport with subordinates and peers. (Required proficiency)
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-disciplined. (Required proficiency)
  • Willingness to perform routine, repetitive cleaning tasks. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. (Required proficiency)

What you will do
  • Organize daily operational duties and utilize employees in a cost effective manner. Lead Tech will write up all weekly catering function sheets. Lead Tech will talk to customers and help them to order catered foods and/or items they need, both internal and external. Lead Tech will do all monthly billing and all end of the month bookkeeping.
  • Provide training to staff in subjects ranging from excellent customer skills to safe food handling and sanitation.
  • Regularly inspect machinery and equipment to ensure that proper working order is maintained.
  • Responsible for ordering out of house catering items, i.e., liquor, bagels, donuts, linen.
  • May participate in new employee departmental orientation, and the completion of performance and merit evaluations.
  • May perform some in-service training to tray line staff.
  • Knowledgeable in diets.
  • Keep current on new techniques in planning and implementing pace changers, and appealing trays for patients.
  • Perform any and all duties in the tray line area as required by staffing problems.
