Nursery/Farm Assistant Wanted

We are looking for a hard-working, reliable person interested in an outdoor job on a local family nursery/farm. The nursery specializes in pond and wetland plants. We are a wholesale production nursery (not a retail store). No prior knowledge of water plants or water gardening is required but would be helpful.

We are looking for someone who is polite and courteous, has a desire to learn about our plants, is ready for outdoor physical work and has a good work ethic.

Job Includes:

Watering, weeding, lifting, assisting with plant propagation, plant preparation for orders and assisting with on-site maintenance.

Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of a High School diploma or GED.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must have the ability to follow directions and to work cooperatively with the others on the team.
• We work in all weather—rain or shine—during our prime season.
• Position requires ability to lift and carry 50lbs, to bend over and pick up containers of plants, to walk on different types of terrain (including shallow ponds and mud), and to be able to be on your feet for prolonged periods of time.
• Some English required.
• Recommended to have prior experience in farm or Nursery Production work

Preference for and Advancement Opportunities for those with:

• Opportunity for work in propagation and production scheduling with experience

Work Schedule:

Part Time, Tuesday-Thursday with more hours available during peak season; Fridays off. Regular hours 8-4 with overtime on large order days. Option for partial days. Regular season February 1-October 31.

Position available as of March 1, 2024.

Negotiable pay rate depending on experience and skills. Entry level is $17.60/hour. Excellent opportunity for horticultural student internship.
