Job Summary:
Performs selected nursing functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse. A non-licensed healthcare provider employed by Erlanger who is responsible for direct and/or indirect care of the patient.

Nursing student who has completed all but the last year of the nursing program toward the RN designation or a nursing student who has completed all but the last 6 months of the nursing program toward the LPN designation.

Department Position Summary:
The STICU Nurse Tech 1 must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in STICU. The Nurse Tech 1 must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's acute or critical status and interpret and response appropriate to the identified information. A Registered Nurse in the Shock Trauma Intensive Care Unit must be familiar with the care of Acute / critically injured patients involved in any type of traumatic accident, have the ability to assess injuries and realize complications, which may include neurological involvement. The Nurse Tech 1 will provide care as needed per described unit's policies and procedures. Ability to assess patients, select, develop, implement and evaluate plan of care. Ability to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, perform procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned.
