As a Nurse, you will directly care for patient seeking treatment in our outpatient program. You will monitor and administer MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) therapy put in place by the medical doctor. You will create a therapeutic and open environment for patients while they are receiving care at our facility.
Requirements:
- Must be either a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse licensed in the State of Georgia.
- Must maintain continuing education credits as required by the GA. Board of Licensure and organizational needs.
- One (1) year experience or knowledge in the field of drug abuse recommended.
- Must meet minimum Competency Standards as set forth in the Competencies for Nurses.

Responsibilities:
- Administer/dispense methadone/buprenorphine in accordance with Georgia State and Federal regulations.
- Ensure that adequate recording of the administration/dispensing transaction has occurred.
- Ensure that the treatment plan of the physician or medical director is being followed.
- Giving and interpreting of the Mantoux test.
- Monitor patient response to treatment and medication dosage when they come for medication for signs of over-sedation and illness.
- Participate in case conferences, offering professional observations.
- Make appropriate and timely nursing progress notes to record as needed. Related duties as required. An LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) shall consult with the Nursing Supervisor of the RN (Registered Nurse) or MD on duty when any concern or question arises.
- Under supervision of Medical Director, orders medical supplies, maintain a proper inventory and record of use as per regulations.
- Maintains all medical records including but not limited to individual charts, daily medication charts, dosage records, progress notes, Doctor's orders, etc., as required.
- Makes appointments for clients to see physician; obtains lab work-ups and checks with clients to see that appointments are kept.
- Teaches clients about methadone maintenance and side effects. Counsel's clients re: personal hygiene, abnormal lab results, HIV/AIDS testing, and all medical matters including changes in treatment.
- Discusses with physician and staff significant changes in treatment or noted patterns of behavior affecting treatment.
- Provides referral for specialized care at local health centers (e.g., Planned Parenthood, prenatal clinic, HIV/AIDS testing sites, etc.) and follows-up on client's attendance and treatment.
- Assists in organizing transfers of patients to and from the program; verifies methadone dosage verbally with nurse of another program. Manage the Health and Safety Documentation for DBHDS and CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities)
- Other related responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in training staff in medical matters and patient care; attendance at professional meetings as required; assists Doctor during physical examinations; keeps dispensing room clean and orderly; maintains medical equipment.
- In absence of Medical Director, assists in the overall administration of Medical Department.
- Must be knowledgeable of agency policies and procedures.
- Other related duties as assigned.
