Job description

Overview
Administrative and technical work to assure and improve the quality of mental health services through the Department of Mental Health. This individual also has direct oversight of quality and compliance at Designated Hospitals. This class requires extensive interaction with individuals with lived experience and their families, state agencies, hospital and unit leadership, and other organizations. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Assistance Director of Quality Management.
Examples of work include:
• coordinating and leading the designation process for involuntary inpatient psychiatric units for the State of Vermont
• attention to detail in data input and analysis of emergency involuntary procedures, such as manual and mechanical restraints and emergency medications
• relationship building and organization skills to lead the Emergency Involuntary Procedure Review committee
• curiosity and interest in continuous improvement projects is critical since quality team is updating processes after each cycle
• clinical and report writing skill to observe and reflect on Electro Convulsive Therapy procedures

AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Environmental Factors
Duties may be performed in both field and office settings. Considerable travel may be required to community provider agencies for which overnight stays also may be required. Evening work may be required. Resistance or objection to standards or to survey findings may be anticipated and requires considerable tact and diplomacy to achieve appropriate resolution. Survey deadlines, exit conferences, and interviewing may on occasion cause stress.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of (or eligible for) licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Vermont OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license AND five (5) years or more of professional nursing experience INCLUDING two (2) years or more of in the specialty area.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

NOTE: Must maintain Vermont licensure as a Registered Nurse OR eligible to practice in the state of Vermont via a multi-state license as a condition of employment.
