Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician’s Assistant (PA) functions independently in the medical office setting in collaboration with a supervising physician. Emphasis on patient care, stable acute illness reprieve, health promotion and illness/injury prevention. Coordinates staffing and orientation of assigned team members. Plans and conducts ongoing education and training. Maintains infection control/safety standards, and be committed to providing and promoting patient-centered communication and care.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, d monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications
- Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
- Makes responsible decisions within the scope of a dependent medical practitioner.
- Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
- Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains department statistics. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
- Develops as needed health education programs and materials
- Works collaboratively with all members of health care team.
- Educates patients and families as appropriate. Provides continuity of care.
- Consults with other staff as necessary.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Education (Including Licenses and Certifications):
- Must have an active license to practice nursing in the state of North Carolina as a Registered Nurse. Must have written approval by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the North Carolina Medical Board to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or current North Carolina PA license, certified by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
- BLS/CPR Certification required
Experience:
- Prior experience in a NP or PA in GI preferred

Pay: $105,000.00 - $125,142.00 per year
