Job Description
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is as member of the emergency team who works in collaboration with the Staff (and but not limited to…Clinician/Assessor, CSAC Clinician/Facilitator) to assess, manage and direct comprehensive client care within their scope of practice, as defined by the requirement of DMAS/DBHDS procedures and policy.
Required EducationNurse Practitioner's Certificate from a recognized program Baccalaureate in Nursing (BScN.)
Current Certification of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario, Registered Nurse
Extended Class:
Current Certification in BCLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS (or ENPC)
Desired EducationMasters’ Degree in Nursing
Required Experience/Other Special Requirements
Ø Recent clinical nurse practitioner experience in a medical/hospital/or medical required setting, preferably in Emergency Services.
Ø Experience with the development of Medical Directives, care pathways, and clinical practice guidelines to support clinical practice
Ø Excellent and proven clinical assessment and diagnostic skills.
Ø Excellent communication skills
Ø Show an eagerness and capacity to adapt to change
Ø Demonstrate a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems
Ø Regular and punctual attendance is a requirement of this position.
Ø Comprehensive knowledge of best practices for the a varied population
Ø Ability to work collaboratively with a Team of care givers that prides themselves of presenting the proper care to needed members in the mental health field.
Ø As a condition of employment, external hires are required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to the Hospital's Occupational Health and Safety department.
Job Duties
Complete Physical evaluation
Complete psychiatric evaluation, additional clinically indicated psychiatric & medical consultation services, Medical, psychological, psychiatric, laboratory, vitals, and toxicology/drug test, but not limited to.
Nurse Practitioners shall hold an active license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing. RNs and LPNs shall hold an active license issued by the Virginia Board of Nursing or hold a multistate licensure privilege pursuant to Chapter 30 (§ 54.1-3000 et seq.) of Title 54.1 of the Code of Virginia. Physicians and Physician Assistants shall hold an active license issued by the Virginia Board of Medicine.
