We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse Navigatorfor our outpatient lab. No after hours calls, nights or weekends. This is a regular full-time position with benefits.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse Navigator is a professional who coordinates patient care based on established protocols. Being effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for all patients through communication, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse Navigator shall oversee and guide the patient care process from initial encounter through procedural follow up. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
BSN/RN graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Minimum of five-years professional nursing experience, ASC, ER, ICU, Cath Lab experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of invasive cardiovascular and vascular care
Basic computer knowledge and skills.
REQUIRED LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION:
Has a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Multi-State Compact.
Current Basic Life Support certification
Current ACLS certification
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Managing timely planning/organization of daily patient schedule
- Pre Procedure teaching/instruction to patients/caregivers
- Maintains direct communication with scheduling provider/physicians, staff and outside entities on interventional and non-interventional procedures
- Clinical decision making with provider/physician on scheduling of procedures
- Maintains/reviews patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Posts tests and examination results to patient charts.
- Instructs and educates patients about proper physiological requirements for procedure and obtains informed consent.
- Assists in performing life-saving techniques to the patient as necessary.
- Serves as essential link between patients and providers
- Responds to / refers incoming patient treatment-related phone calls.
- Supporting patients/caregivers in understanding planned procedures and throughout the procedure process
- Ensuring patient charts are prepped prior to procedure & post procedure with proper documentation/physician signatures
- Communication with providers about daily schedule and scheduled start time
- Communication with providers about authorized procedures for patients
- Serves as a backup staff member for sick call, PTO, or increased caseload
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of professional cardiovascular nursing theory, regulations and practices to give and evaluate patient care.
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish/maintain a safe work environment.
- Knowledge of nursing principles and protocols.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
- Knowledge of physician workload and procedural speed thresholds

- Skills in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of professional nursing to ensure the highest level of patient care.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Noise or Vibrations: Running equipment, testing equipment, alarm buzzers, phones, computer and printer, and possibly office equipment
Hazards: Contact with communicable diseases, electrical equipment, blood borne pathogens, etc. Exposed to wet conditions, toxic chemicals, mechanical parts and sharp objects.
