Nurse Manager, Mor/Cvor

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Manage operations of 24-hour departments across multiple locations.
2. Ensure staff compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and local, state, and federal requirements.
3. Establish and maintain patient care and service standards.
4. Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results.
5. Develop and monitor budgets, identify cost-saving strategies, and improve the quality of care.
6. Determine appropriate staff mix, screen, interview, hire, train, and develop department staff.
7. Oversee and develop standards of care and practice, fiscal management, and quality improvement activities.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum four (4) years of clinical nursing experience related to the clinical area of specialization, including four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Master's Degree in Nursing earned through a direct entry MSN program.
• Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire.
• Basic Life Support certification.

Additional Requirements:

• Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, federal regulations.
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
• ACLS or PALS certification may be required for positions in specific departments.
• National Certification preferred within 1 year of hire.
• Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two (2) years of management experience preferred.
• One (1) year of Magnet/shared governance experience preferred.
• One (1) year of managing in a bargaining environment preferred.
• Master's degree preferred.

Non-Negotiable Requirements:

• MUST HAVE CURRENT CA RN LICENSE (not temporary).
• Must have BSN or higher.
• Must have experience in the last 5 years as an OR RN (must have inpatient OR experience, not just ambulatory surgery).
• Must have 3-5 years as an Assistant Nurse Manager or four years exp as Dept. manager.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Prefer advanced education at MSN or MHA or MBA level and/or CNOR designation.
• Experience with scheduling teams helpful.
• Strong preference for experience in a union environment.
• Must be calm under pressure, a strong communicator, and able to train newer nurses.
