Job Description
We are seeking a LPN or RN to work part-time (approximately 24-28 hours per week) in a fast-paced Internal Medicine office in Pittsford. Availability Requirements:
- Approximately 24-28 hours per week (fairly consistent days/hours each week). Must be flexible to cover for other nurses when they are ill or on vacation
Qualifications:
- Current licensure/registration with three to five years experience in a physician’s office
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent basic nursing skills
- Computer and keyboard literate
- Current BLS CPR certification (this training will be provided by Company if needed)
Responsibilities:
- Taking and charting vital signs and initial patient histories; preparing the patient for and assisting with exams
- Work primarily in the “back office” area and assist the physician with direct patient care and procedures
- Must be able to communicate well with patients on a variety of levels, and provide supportive care for patients and their families
- Initial review of electronic prescription refill requests
- Maintain the clinical inventory and reconcile medical supply invoices
- Responsible for all patient records and for the distribution of patient education materials
- Assist the physician with office procedures, assist Office Manager with scheduling all out-of-office testing, and answer all patient phone calls of a clinical nature as directed by the physician
- Maintaining current CPR and OSHA bloodborne pathogen certifications
- Maintaining back-office inventory; reconciling invoices for all vaccines and disposables; stocking exam rooms; maintaining general appearance and cleanliness of exam rooms; disposal of hazardous waste in central storage area
- Sterilizing instruments and performing routine maintenance on clinical equipment
- Maintaining and distributing patient education materials
- Filing patient notes and lab reports; notifying patients of results and follow-up as directed by the physician
- Assisting Office Manager with scheduling of all out-of-office procedures and ensuring that results are received and charted
- Washing patient gowns and draw sheets in on-site laundry
- Answering clinical phone calls as directed
- Other duties as assigned by the physician
