Provides input to assist the RN in planning and implementing patient care. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures. UNIT DESCRIPTION:
Unit 3400 Is a Medical Telemetry Unit, all of our patients have cardiac monitoring, we see a wide variety of medical patients with multiple comorbidities such as: pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, GI, renal failure-acute and chronic, CHF, cardiac pt’s with diagnostic procedures or medical management only, Afib, wound care, a few surgical and neuro pt’s.
We have a high majority of geriatric pt. population with a high case mix. The only cardiac drip we run is Cardizem for Atrial fibrillation-which we see a lot of. We specialize in Peritoneal Dialysis and our nurses are specially trained for this.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- CNA preferred
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles for similar programs may vary; e.g.,
- Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Patient Assistant Technician (PAT) but perform the same job role.)
- OR May be currently enrolled in a nursing program and have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Nursing course.
- OR Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does
- not hold a Michigan Rn license.
- OR Completion of a Medical Assistant program with OR without experience.
- OR At least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar job role.
- Complete BLS Heartsaver Certification during orientation.
