Position Summary
Hawaii Care Choices Nurse Apprenticeship Program is here to support newly graduated nurses to become talented RN specialists in serious illness. This program will enrich patient-centered delivery of care for our community. Our one-year program program provides new graduates a supportive framework, blended with opportunities for continued learning experiences to build cognitive and critical thinking skills.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Nurse Apprenticeship program is a one-year program designed to facilitate the transition of the newly graduated nurse or registered nurse with less than one-year acute care experience into the work setting. Program highlights include (time commitment will vary according to unit specialty)
- Classroom training
- Hands-on learning
- Simulation Lab
- Interaction with preceptors and clinical end of life care nurses
- Continued education throughout the year
- Nurse Apprenticeship positions are available
- Some specialty areas will have a more detailed orientation with increased time and commitment
- Continued training and mentoring throughout the first year of employment
- Advanced certification available
Education & Experience Requirements
- Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing and have less than one year of acute care nursing experience (please include official transcript of degree)
- Must have RN license or be licensed-eligible in the state
- Out-of-state new graduates must have NCLEX scheduled by the time the apprenticeship program begins
Hours
- Determined based on rotation of care
Pay Range
- $36.00 - $38.00/ per hour

Commitment
- The Nurse Apprenticeship program is a two-year commitment (one year training and one year of home care work depending on placement)
- Must attend all classes and finish all course work to complete the program
