Now is an exciting time to join Hilo Medical Center as a NurseAide! We are establishing an new paid training program for Nurse Aides to join our acute units. Candidates seeking a fulfilling career in health care are encouraged to apply (no health care experience required).
This position will be responsible for providing direct patient care through the performance of a variety of nursing support tasks in accordance with established methods and procedures and performs other duties as assigned.
Hilo is located on the east side of the island of Hawaii, and has a quaint old-Hawaiian, small town atmosphere. Our island offers amazing rainforests, waterfall, beaches and Hawaii Volcano National Park. The hospital staff is community-oriented and strive to provide competent and compassionate care to every patient that enters our doors. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
PREREQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY LEVEL: Knowledge of personal hygiene and bodily care.
CERTIFICATION: Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) in Health Care Provider (adult, child and infant) is preferred. Please submit copy of certification with the application.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of multiple/differing cultures; oral and written communication skills; good observation skills and ability to recall and report/document a series of events accurately; positive attitude; tolerant of unusual, irritating behavior (e.g., slow, repetitive, forgetful, confused, incontinent, messy).
Must be available to work shifts, weekends and holidays, based on hospital operations. Services are provided 24/7.
MEDICAL/PHYSICAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT: Offers of employment will be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment examination, which includes drug screen and other regulatory medical requirements such as, but not limited to, two-step tuberculosis (TB) screen. The cost for physical examinations, except the cost for drug screening, shall be borne by the applicant and not the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation.
