Nuclear ReactorFuel Reliability Summer Student Engineer

Job Summary and Description:
The position is for a graduate student or experienced undergraduate with a chemical, mechanical, and/or nuclear engineering background to support Nuclear Reactor Fuel Reliability projects.
The candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Collect, review, and analyze large datasets and generate concise figures summarizing key results.
- Compare and benchmark plant operational data to simulation results.
- Perform numerical sensitivity studies with custom software that generates text-based numerical output.
- Prepare presentations and present results to a research team.
The ideal candidate will have several of the following skills:
- Proficiency with large scale Excel spreadsheets
- Proficiency with VBA macros (for Excel), Python programming, and/or other data aggregation/analysis programming languages.
- Demonstrated competence in mass and energy balances for heat transfer systems.
- An understanding of general corrosion of metals and inorganic aqueous chemistry.
- An understanding of material science, how temperature and/or irradiation impact materials, and how materials undergo deformation over time.
- Familiarity with Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) design and operations.
This position will ideally be based out of our Palo Alto, CA or Charlotte, NC offices. Applicants interested in applying for a remote-based position may also be considered.
