This is a 6-month program.

Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities - such as EV platforms, batteries, e-motors, inverters, charging and recycling - to create ground-up, breakthrough electric vehicles. By joining the best software, engineering, design and UX talent, you will be a part of creating 
new technologies and concepts that can be applied across the Ford enterprise. Being on the Ford Model  E team means building the future as Ford's center of innovation and growth through electric and connected vehicles and services. 

 

What you'll be able to do: 

  • Collaborate with Aerodynamics, Ergonomics, Engineering, and Design teams to create visually, geometrically and functionally representative physical test properties  
  • Develop unique approaches for using physical test properties to evaluate and define aerodynamic devices or customer user experiences in future electric vehicles 
  • Hands-on CAD design, fabrication, and assembly of static and functional prototypes at component, subsystem, and full vehicle levels 
  • Project manage and source components from internal and external vendors of waterjet, rapid prototyped, machined components, and composite layup 

 
The minimum requirements we seek: 

  • Pursuit of a relevant Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering or a related field 
  • Must be able to work in Irvine, CA office for a 6 month period 
  • Candidates must graduate and be available for full-time work prior to September 2025 
  • Experience in one or more CAD programs (Catia, NX, Creo, Solidworks)  
  • Experience with hands-on prototyping, fabrication, and assembly  

 
Our preferred requirements: 

  • Experience defining rapid prototyping, machining, and fabrication processes and materials to achieve the desired final appearance and functional requirements 
  • Awareness of DFA, DFMEA, GD&T, and Solid Mechanics 
  • Team-first mindset and ability to multi-task under tight deadlines 
  • Ability to think creatively and to champion innovative prototype solutions 
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills, superb communication, and able to adapt to dynamic requirements
