SUMMARY:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of duties involving accounting, analysis, and reporting. The accountant will support the organizational financial guidelines and procedures. If any accounts payable and receivable questions or issues appear, the accountant addresses them and works to resolve the problem. They also develop monthly financial statements regarding the company’s profits, loss statements and balance sheets, and other tasks as assigned by the U.S. Controller and the CFO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Accounts Payable.
● Accounts Receivable in conjunction with the Development Department.
● Make bank deposits and support other areas of financial operations.
● Prepare and review monthly financials.
● Support the preparation of annual operating budgets.
● Assist with the preparation of grant/contract budgets.
● Prepare invoices, cost reports and grant financial progress reports.
● Prepare monthly journal entries, review and research account transactions and perform analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts for assigned functional areas.
● Conduct department and grant/contract expenses analysis.
● Review and enhance internal reports.
● Participate in meetings with department heads and grant/contract management to review budgets, financials and other reports.
● Assist with internal control analysis.
● Prepare schedules for quarterly reviews and year-end audit.
● Research issues, clarify information, and prepare supporting data.
● Responsible for performing special projects to improve process efficiency and performance.
● Represent the Finance team by working closely with the Development team and Operations as needed.
● May perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Undergraduate degree in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience with nonprofit financial operations.
● CPA, MBA, MPA, or JD degree a plus.
● At least two years of experience in accounting, preferably with a Code section 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
● Understanding of nonprofit accounting processes, procedure and internal controls.
● Familiarity with GAAP for nonprofit organizations.
● Experience with Neon One is a plus.
● Experience with Bisan is a plus.
● Strong research and analysis skills.
● Excellent written and verbal communication
