Target salary is $55,000 - $65,000 annually.

The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program in Ludlow, Vermont, in partnership with Ascension Recovery Services, is looking for a Non-Profit Accountantto join our team.

Addiction is a widespread issue that adversely affects people across the country. At The Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program, our mission is to provide educational and introspective programming to foster a sober and productive foundation for individuals affected by addiction. We have created a program for people who want recovery. Our non-clinical model is designed to motivate and inspire without judgment. We recognize that addiction is a disease and not an absence of willpower.

The accountant’s responsibilities include preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, processing payroll, filing payroll tax reports and performing other accounting duties as assigned.

Accountabilities

• Prepare journal entries.
• Complete general ledger operations
• Process monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements.
• Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts.
• Process bi-weekly payroll.
• Assist with year-end closings (1099s, W2s, etc.)
• Administer accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Prepare tax computations and returns.
• Serve as liaison with CPA firm during annual 990 process.
• Process donation letters of acknowledgment.
• Assist with securing grants and managing financial aspects of grants.
• Monitor and resolve bank issues including fee anomalies and check differences.
• Account/bank reconciliations.
• Review and process expense reports.
• Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process.
• Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures.
• Serve as primary point of contact for bank, company credit card, insurance policies, and PayPal accounts.
• Assist with monthly operational analysis and support.
• Supports Program Director and other staff with finance and accounting processes and inquiries.
• Maintain operational and finance reports for DSF leadership and Board of Directors

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, 3+ years of experience may be substituted for degree.
• Two (2) or more years of accounting related experience.
• 2+ years of experience with non-profits highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong computer skillset including MS Office and accounting software.
• Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skills.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
