Reports To: Plant Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY:
This role is responsible for leading employees, planning, and assigning work and implementing company policies/procedures. This employee will need to initiate improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions to ensure labor standards are achieved.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervises the Press Room, Riveting, Spot Welding, and MIG Welding departments.
  • Directs production leads on the floor to begin and stage jobs throughout the day based on completion dates, customer requirements, and the master production schedule.
  • Promotes maximum efficiency by advising production leads on work set ups and validate those materials for each job operation are correct.
  • Ensures maximum quality by monitoring the output of all jobs and validate those parts meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Enforces and leads by example of safety protocols
  • Motivates and instructs employees towards the achievement of rate goals while holding them accountable to rate standards for all job operations.
  • Documents, coordinates, and participates in the training of team members in various production roles.
  • Achieves a high level of quality according to tolerances and specifications outlines in work instructions.
  • Performs other related job duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education and Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence). Minimum of 3 years of experience in steel or aluminum manufacturing/supervisory setting required. Preferred experience in a Union environment.
  • Language Skills- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret work instructions, operating procedures, safety manuals, blueprints, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral Falls Stamping and Welding Company communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors, etc.
  • Mathematical Skills –Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is to remain in a stationary position for 60 percent of the time while overseeing the team on the shop floor.  They frequently operate motorized equipment and machines to assist the team. The individual needs to occasionally move about on the shop floor to transport parts, access tools, equipment, parts, and other necessary items to help complete the work order. They use the hands continuously while performing all job duties. Most of the activities involve fine and gross manipulation of items. They must be able to exchange accurate information with other individuals in the office and shop.  Must be able to detect mechanical issues and part defects from short distances to determine what action needs to be taken.  They must regularly push, pull, and/or move up to 60 pounds. The individual must be capable of carrying and loading different parts and tools required to complete the job. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment. Due to the risk of electrical hazards while installing or servicing, additional personal protective equipment and procedures may need to be followed.

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment as situations dictate on various job and construction sites. Due to exposure of machinery and electrical currents, employees are required to wear personal protective equipmentsuch as ear and eye protection, gloves, and steel toe boots. During warmer months, the required personal protective equipment may cause the employee to be very warm while working. The individual will be exposed to loud machinery or equipment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $26.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
