    • Attention to detail to ensure that all areas are cleaned and maintained to high standards.

Overall, a janitor should have a strong work ethic and be dedicated to maintaining a clean and safe environment for others.

    Is a Janitor a Labor-Intensive Job?

Yes, being a janitor is a physical job that requires a lot of physical exertion and repetitive motion. The job involves heavy lifting, reaching, stretching, and bending, often in awkward positions. Janitors spend most of their time on their feet, walking, and operating medium-weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors, and moving desks and furniture. They must have good manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.

Janitors are required to frequently lift and move heavy objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally more than 75 pounds. The job also involves the use of back-pack vacuums, which can be heavy and require additional physical effort.

To ensure the safety of all employees, proper lifting techniques are taught to all new employees. The company is also committed to making reasonable accommodations for individuals who require special accommodations to perform the essential functions of the job.

Will I be exposed to Chemicals and Cleaning Products?

Yes, the janitor works on a daily basis with dangerous and toxic cleaning products that can be very harmful to one's health if not properly utilized, and therefore require following basic safety precautions. The job may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Janitors may also deal with bodily fluids that can pose a risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens, and therefore should be trained and equipped with appropriate safety measures, such as gloves and disinfectants. Maintaining good personal hygiene is also important to prevent exposure to communicable diseases.

The condition of washrooms may often be unpleasant, but it is important for the janitor to follow all safety guidelines and use appropriate personal protective equipment when working with dangerous and toxic cleaning products. Proper training, safety measures, and personal protective equipment can help reduce the risk of exposure to harmful chemicals and pathogens.

Do I Have to Complete a Background Screening?

Yes, you will be required to complete a background screening during your employment as a janitor. This is necessary to ensure that you meet the current contract eligibility requirements for the position and to maintain a safe and productive work environment. You must also be able to pass criminal and drug screening processes. It is important to be honest and upfront about any potential issues or concerns that may arise during these screening processes. Failure to pass these screenings may result in the termination of your employment.

Applicant must be able to obtain and maintain TIER 5 clearance
