The Janitor Utility Worker cleans and keeps in an orderly condition factory working areas and washrooms or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishments. Duties involve a combination of the following: sweeping, mopping or scrubbing and polishing floors; removing chips, trash, and other refuse; dusting equipment, furniture, or fixtures; polishing metal fixtures or trimmings; providing supplies and minor maintenance services; and cleaning lavatories, showers, and restrooms.
- Responds to the following
- All liquid spills in a timely manner to prevent accidents that may be caused by this incident.
- Adhering to all requests from customers within the DLA Complex such as emptying trash containers for tenants leaving the Complex.
- Cleans recycle rooms and service elevators daily including sweeping and scrubbing the area.
- Removes carpet spots using carpet machine and rug spot removers in concert with DLA safety standards.
- Removes trash and waste materials in cubical area and suite areas as needed or when other Didlake employees are absent.
- Services restrooms when the person responsible is unavailable or as needed.
- Receives, counts and stores supply ordered by supervisor(s) for daily use at the DLA Complex.
- Cleans closets and storage areas that he services and/or uses daily.
- Informs supervisors of problems, concerns, and safety issues regarding co-workers.
- Assures safety of employees by monitoring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.
- Fosters an atmosphere that promotes Human Rights for all clients and ensures incident reporting and awareness of responsibilities of all personnel regarding Human Rights matters.
- Responsible for appropriate conduct and decorum at the DLA as dictated by Didlake policy and DLA requirements.
- All other duties are assigned by the supervisor.
- Checks trash, restroom, and stairwell crews when performing their daily task at the DLA Complex.
- Transports all trash and waste materials to the disposal area located at either end of the DLA Complex on the Lower Level.
- Completes and maintains all Didlake required training.

Requirements:Education:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
- Familiarity with cleaning products and equipment.
- Experience with persons with disabilities is preferred.
- Must have verbal and written communication to read simple instructions, recognize the difference between words and numbers, print and speak simple sentences.
- Ability to remind and train staff on standard operating procedures and safe operation of equipment.
- Ability to interact effectively and supportively with individuals with disabilities.
- Requires some knowledge of cleaning products and equipment.
- Must possess a positive team member attitude.
