Performs all front desk duties as needed. Runs computer programs that close out each day’s work and prepare the hotel for a smooth transition into the new day's business. As a Security Guard will provide security coverage, conducts foot patrols and security checks, monitor the area for unauthorized users, responds to incidents, reports hazards, and complete necessary reports.Job Description

Note: This is a third shift position from 10:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.

Essential Functions:

Night Auditor:

  • Performs all desk clerk and related operations during the 3rd shift.

  • Posts charges to accounts and maintain cash receipts and bank statements.

  • Sends and receives faxes, and makes copies.

  • Communicates with all departments to ensure maximum satisfaction for guest service.

  • Updates systems with billing and housekeeping information.

  • Secures room and departmental keys; performs a nightly audit of all property keys.

  • Performs the final audit of each day's work.

  • Posts bar bills, prints, compiles and distributes daily reports.

  • Records all revenue transactions that have occurred since the last audit.

  • Oversees the details of all current group billing.

  • Directs guests on safety procedures for emergency situations.

  • Works closely with security to assure guest satisfaction throughout the early morning.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Security Guard:

  • Performs foot and vehicle patrols of all buildings on the property. Monitors activities in and around buildings, parking lots, and open fields.

  • Ensures guest and meeting rooms are locked and secure.

  • Detects any safety hazards or issues, documents them, and reports promptly.

  • Performs clean-up of bio-hazardous incidents, such as vomit or blood.

  • Completes written documentation of all injuries, damaged property, theft, vandalism, etc.

  • In the absence of the Manager on Duty, handles guest conflicts involving intoxication, unauthorized possession of alcohol, etc.

  • Enforces policies and procedures of the Conference Center.

  • Responsible for the evacuation of buildings in emergency situations.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High School graduate plus a minimum of two years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a hotel setting preferred.

  • Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to communicate with guests and staff via phone, radio and face-to-face contact.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of customer service skills.

  • Ability to resolve conflict to guest satisfaction.

  • Demonstrated basic understanding of all operational departments and functions (training available).

  • Proficiency in personal computer skills, troubleshooting computer errors and system problems, and relevant software applications.

  • Ability to work independently during the 3rd shift.

  • Ability to ensure excellent attention to detail throughout all-night audit processes.

  • Ability to meet the requirements of the University’s automobile insurance.

  • Ability to write detailed and accurate reports.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.

  • Ability to organize the workflow and coordinate activities.

  • Ability to detect criminal activity and communicate with Campus Police Officers.

  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures and make logical decisions.

  • Ability to operate equipment safely, such as vehicle wheelchair lifts and two-way radios.

  • Ability to successfully complete First Aid, CPR and Blood-borne Pathogen training. HBV vaccine.

  • Basic knowledge of hazardous materials.

  • Ability to work flexible shifts including weekends and holidays.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Security experience in the hospitality setting is preferred but not required. (training available)

  • Ability to operate Opera Hospitality Software. (training available)

  • Skill in building security, lock procedures, and protection services.

  • Knowledge of Graylyn's history and guest room features or ability to learn in a short period of time.

Physical Requirements:

Night Auditor: Light work. Standing. Walking. Talking. Hearing. Fingering. Close visual acuity. Subject to inside environmental conditions. Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.

Security Guard: Medium work; exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Climbing, Balancing, Stooping, Kneeling, Crouching, Crawling, Reaching, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Fingering, Grasping, and Repetitive Motions. Possess visual acuity to operate motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and machinery and to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned. Activities occur both inside and outside, subject to both environmental conditions. Subject to noise, vibrations, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils.
