POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for providing leadership and coaching that focuses on customer satisfaction, project profitability, risk levels and bid strategies. Lead a cross functional team of specialists who develop, propose, and execute new bus manufacturing programs for customers within the assigned market segment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Prioritizes work, projects, and assignments within the segment team to meet customer timelines, company priorities and business objectives.
  • Ensures segment team accurately estimates cost, engineering effort and timelines, and develops market driven pricing strategies based on competitor data and the current economic environment.
  • Works with engineering and supply chain to develop solutions that meet or exceed performance and cost expectations.
  • Provides oversight and guidance throughout pre-production activities to ensure all contributors meet the contract performance specifications, terms, timelines, and budgeted profitability.
  • Supports regional sales team and/or dealer channel with the development and execution of sales strategies for customers in the assigned market segment.
  • Identifies gaps to customer specifications and develops value propositions to sell New Flyer preferred features and services.
  • Evaluates competition, promotes superior performance elements and addresses known issues in new business proposals.
  • Maintains customer health metrics for customers within the assigned Business Segment.
  • Keeps up to date with service and reliability feedback for New Flyer buses and competitor buses.
  • Provides required company financial and market reporting for the assigned Business Segment.
  • Ensures compliance with industry standards, FTA (International Free Trade Agreements) requirements and available bus technology.
  • Establishes effective communication, cooperation and information flow with other appropriate reams and departments.
  • Evaluates, coaches, and encourages employee's performance and development.
  • Ensures that Bid Bill of Material (BOM) contains the most complete and accurate information before the opportunity is closed off.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • University degree in Business, Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or technical service industry.
  • Superior leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Formal knowledge of Bids/Tenders or Technical writing process is preferred.
  • Knowledge of business financials and contractual terms and conditions is an asset.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Teamcenter and Oracle.

Up to 25% of travel is required in this position.

This position is based out of Winnipeg, MB but remote work can be considered.
