Job Description
The Desert Research Institute (DRI) is seeking a dedicated individual to fill a full-time Nevada Robotics Program Assistant. This position will be responsible for business administrative tasks and supporting the educational programming including the Robot Lending Library. This position will work with the business office to complete paperwork, manage the Robot Lending Library (RLL) for educators, update the program website, assist with social media posts, and teacher trainings. This position is based in Reno, Nevada and has a flexible work schedule with a combination of in-person and remote responsibilities.
Job Duties:
Business office work related to the Nevada Robotics and Weather Modification Program (25% each)
- Process hourly timesheets biweekly
- Process P-Card transactions, purchase orders, and travel expense reports
- Assist with inventory control annually
Robot Lending Library (RLL) Management
- Coordinate inventory
- Schedule distribution
- Communicate with educators
- Update robots, brains, order extra parts as needed
- Manage the RLL database and track impact
Website and Social Media
- Website admin: redesign and update Nevada Robotics website using WordPress
- Support social media needs of the program, including video and photos
Educational Support
- Assist with in-person teacher trainings
- Contribute to curriculum development needs of the program
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive
- Ability to work independently and maintain responsibility for individual work
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem resolution skills
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills
- VEX 123 and VEX Go
Preferred Qualifications:
Greater consideration will be given to those who possess one or more of the following skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, communications, business operations, or related field from an accredited institution
- Current Nevada teaching license
- Experience teaching/training in either formal or informal settings in related field
- Experience working with Workday, Knack, WordPress, and Adobe Illustrator
Physical Requirements:
This position may need to occasionally perform physical tasks, such as lifting objects of 20-60 lbs., stooping, bending, and kneeling. Be able to stand for long periods of time.
Conditions of Employment:
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check
- Work is flexible with some remote, on-campus, offsite locations, and weekend work required
- Stable internet connection required for remote work
Compensation Grade/Benefits
This is a DRI Technologist position, Grade 31, with a minimum starting salary of $48,487. Starting salary is commensurate with experience and education and alignment with similar public academic-research institutions.
DRI offers a benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and life insurance (flexible spending and health savings account options available); PERS 17.5% retirement match, 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of sick leave accrued per month, and 12 paid holidays Additionally, there is no state income tax or social security deduction. This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
Within certain guidelines, DRI technologists, their spouses (includes same-sex marriage), domestic partner and eligible dependents may have a portion of registration waived when taking state sponsored courses at any of the NSHE campuses. This benefit is available as soon as the six-month probationary period ends.
