Job Summary and Qualifications

The Surgical Technician will be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide assistance during surgical procedures performed in the department. The Surgery Technician is experienced in all aspects of aseptic technique, setting up the required equipment and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases; pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at the end of the procedure. He/she is knowledgeable regarding instrumentation, equipment and supply needs for all types of surgical procedures. The Surgery Technician performs delegated duties consistent with his/her scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery. 

The Surgical Technician will work within the high-volume, complex neuro surgery program to include surgical intervention of lesions, tumors, congenital, trauma, vascular disorders, spinal cord tethering, and other diseases to the nervous systems.

Some of our neurosurgical procedures include: 

• Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for debilitating neurological conditions such as movement disorders. 
• Surgical management of epilepsy, including resection, laser ablation, stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG), DBS , responsive neurostimulation (RNS) and vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) 
• Functional surgery for chronic craniofacial, spinal and extremity pain disorders 
• Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) to treat Intracranial tumors, functional disorders, Vascular malformations, and Neurological disorders

What qualifications you will need:

• Current BLS Certification through AHA or ARC.
• Current CST Certification or equivalent experience.
• Registration as a Surgical Tech by Colorado Division of Regulatory Agencies (DORA).
• Graduation from an accredited program for Operating Room Technicians.
• Minimum two years of experience as a Surgery Technician. 12 months of neurosurgery experience required. 
• Advanced knowledge in the scrub role and responsibilities for majority of surgical specialties.
