Under the supervision of the Network Coordinator, the Network Supervisor monitors and manages the local area networks and wide area networks of the District; maintains the operation and health of the District directory services; ensures that all district servers are current and operable. Provides knowledge, skills and leadership in the development of the technical assistants. Installs system hardware and software programs and other related duties; provides expertise for difficult troubleshooting situations.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

· Assists in the development of short and long-range plans for the implementation and maintenance of technology for the district.

· Develops and administers user accounts, develops advanced system login scripts, workstation policies, user interface controls, and file systems.

· Prepares necessary network documentation including topology drawings, schematics, diagrams, and specifications.

· Oversees major technology implementation and integration projects as needed.

· Monitor inventory levels of technology supplies and equipment.

· Monitors and configures all district infrastructure, including local area networks, wide area networks, and wireless networks; maintains Internet Protocol (IP) addressing, router and switch configurations, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and Domain Name System (DNS) servers, and related network systems.

· Troubleshoots complex networking and application issues.

· Administers and configures network security as related to user accounts, anti-virus, firewall configuration, and content filtering.

· Performs confidential email and internet access audits.

· Configures and monitors the performance of enterprise backup and fault tolerance systems.

· Performs advanced network directory services maintenance functions and problem resolution.

· Provide escalation support for complicated troubleshooting problems.

· Maintain network routing equipment including the configuration of filters and firewalls.

· Manage district access control systems.

· Manage Google Apps for Education domain objects including user accounts and devices.

· Manage VoIP phone, voicemail, and related communication systems.

· Manage camera surveillance systems and related equipment.

· Support school paging systems and related equipment.

· Installs, repairs, and maintains District technology including servers, desktops, laptops, Chromebooks, network hardware, cabling, disk drives, and other peripherals.

· Provide personal consultation and training to users of district technology.

· Assists with maintaining hardware and software inventory.

· Participates in developing technical instruction documents, troubleshooting instructions, and operational procedures.

· Performs other duties assigned directly related to the position that are of incidental nature.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of:

• Various types of electronic test equipment, materials and tools used in computer repair work

• Basic electrical and electronic theory

• computer operating systems from Microsoft Windows, macOS, IOS, Android, and Chrome OS

• Microsoft Office applications

• Google Workspace

• Common personal computer business and utility software

• Active Directory related software tools

• HTTP, FTP, and STMP/Mail server administration

• Thorough knowledge of VMware and virtual environments

• Enterprise Imaging and Antivirus software

• Wireless networking protocols

• Network design and/or implementation

Ability to:

• Explain and instruct computer users regarding basic computer functions and operations.

• Perform necessary servicing and repair of computers and related computer hardware.

• Setup and troubleshoot audio systems and equipment.

• Operate electronic measuring and testing equipment.

• Install and operate various computer hardware and software applications.

• Read and interpret electronic schematic diagrams, factory repair manuals and other technical literature.

• Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.

• Prepare and present complete and accurate written and verbal reports.

• Work and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.

• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.

• Initiate and exercise good judgment.

• Work with minimum supervision.

• Maintain confidentiality.

• Prioritize and schedule work.

• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.

• Practice proper methods and safety procedures for operating light power tools.

• Maintain regular attendance.

PHYSICAL EFFORT/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Exert 20 to 60 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

• Ability to sit, walk, stand, climb ladders, and crawl under buildings and through attics.

• Good near and far vision and depth perception.

• Ability to provide oral information.

• The manual dexterity to operate business related equipment.

• Ability to handle and work with various materials and objects that are important aspects of this job.

 

 

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· Two-year degree in a computer related discipline or recent equivalent experience in the administration of complex local area networks, wide area networks, and enterprise wireless networks.

· Five years of experience maintaining and installing networked computer systems in a Microsoft environment with emphasis on PC’s and compatibles.

· Five years of experience maintaining Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems.

· Five years of experience configuring and administering Google and Microsoft’s collaboration tools.

· Knowledge of voice, data, and video telecommunications technology, and network hardware and software.

· Cisco Certified Network Associate or Professional Certifications, or equivalent industry certifications is highly desirable.

EQUIPMENT & LICENSE:

• Must possess a valid California driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

• Evidence of appropriate insurance based on DMV regulations.

• Drive a personal vehicle to conduct work as required by the position.

• Criminal justice fingerprint clearance (this is done at the time of hire).

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Work year: 260 Days

Salary: Classified Supervisory Salary – Range 19

Sick Leave: Twelve (12) days
