Under general supervision of the Server Operations Manager, performs configuration, administration and maintenance duties for the SRPMIC Tribal Government local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). This job class is treated as FLSA Non-Exempt.

Tasks:1. Network Support: Provides Level I support and problem resolution for workstation network problems.
- Works to resolve less technical network problems and escalates higher-level network problems to the Network Specialist II or the Server Operations Manager.
- Resolves problems with LAN infrastructure including user data nodes (data drops), fiber optic and twisted pair runs.
2. Data Wiring Projects (Local Area Network (LAN)): Oversees the data wiring projects (LAN) and works with departments to assess network wiring infrastructure requirements and gathers competitive quotes and selects vendor for cabling projects.
3. Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Administration: Manages the creation, deletions and modifications of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
- Resolves DHCP problems and makes modifications as necessary to support new user needs.
4. Management of Switches and Other Networking Devices (Excluding Routers and Firewalls): Applies updates and standard configuration to new equipment.
- Works with technical support to resolve issues and obtain replacements as necessary.
- Maintains inventory of production equipment located at various buildings and remote sites.
5. Managements of UPS Equipment: Responsible for UPS maintenance including software updates and battery replacements.
- Monitors and responds to alerts and warnings.
- Coordinates purchasing, installation and configuring new UPS.
6. Cisco VoIP Support: Acts as the primary point of contact in completing work orders and work requests related to Cisco Phones including adding, moving and changing new and existing account. Resolves related problems and issues as required.
7. Data Center Maintenance: Coordinates general data center maintenance including generator inspection, fuel level check, general data center cleanliness, access control and data center environmental, temperature and humidity.
- Ensures all racks have proper cable management.
8. Routing Switching: Responsible for basic port assignment for speed, duplex, VLAN and description.
- Performs basic switch configuration and troubleshooting.
- Activates new drops.
9. Wireless: Obtains quotes for equipment, installing access points and performing basic troubleshooting.
10. Network Printer Installation and Support: Assigns IP numbers to network printers.
- Sets up and maintains the server's print services and printer user shares.
11. Miscellaneous: Performs other job related tasks as assigned by the Server Operations Manager, Assistant IT Director (Infrastructure & Operations) or IT Director.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- Knowledge of the history, culture, laws, ordinances, customs and traditions of the SRPMIC.
- Knowledge assessing network system needs and procedures.
- Knowledge of technical network documentation process.
- Knowledge of LANs/WANs, Routers and Firewalls.
- Knowledge of TPC/IP structures, VoIP, VLAN and DHCP.
- Knowledge of Cisco Routers, WIN networks and Active Directory.
- Knowledge of Cisco router and switch command line interface configuration.
- Knowledge of Network Security Firewalls.
- Knowledge of standard RFP processes.
- Knowledge of network design software such as Visio and AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of IT and network Best Practices.
- Skill using network sniffers and help-desk tools.
- Skill interfacing at all staff levels and providing effective verbal and written communication.
- Skill managing small to medium network projects.
- Ability to diagnose and respond to network security issues in an accurate, timely and thorough manner.
- Ability to effectively manage simultaneous network issues.
- Ability to effectively manage network related change and requirements gathering.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks.

Education: A Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
Experience: 2 years' experience providing Windows network technical support utilizing the TCP/IP communications protocol in a business or academic environment.
- 1 year experience administering a Windows NT or 2000 server and supporting Windows networked clients workstations (Windows 95/98, NT and 2000) in a business or academic environment.
- 1 year experience administering Exchange Server.
- 1 year experience performing the following tasks:
Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education and experience that will allow the applicant to satisfactorily perform the duties of the job may be considered.
- May be required to work beyond normal work hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
- May be required to complete a Salt River Police Department (SRPD) background check and polygraph examination.
- May be required to receive and maintain a SRPMIC Community Regulatory License and State Certification (ADOG).
- Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona Driver's License. Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment Drug Test and extensive Fingerprint and Background Check.
- All employees providing services to a campus with children are subject to Random Drug Testing and completion of a Background Check every five (5) years.
