Responsibilities
Peraton Labs is seeking a talented Network Security Research Scientist to join our high performing team. Must be able to work onsite five days a week. The Network Security Research Scientist will develop innovative solutions to solve hard, real-world networking problems. You’ll take responsibility to accomplish specific deliverables within a small team setting of fellow engineers. You’ll communicate and collaborate with fellow team members and help guide junior staff.

We are a self-sustaining research center within Peraton that provides applied research and engineering to enable government agencies, utilities, and commercial enterprises to fully exploit the future of communications, analytics, and cyber security.
Who we’re looking for:
- Cyber: We are looking for staff with a strong interest (and ideally a track record) in cyberSecurity Research and development.
- Generalists: You should have a breadth of knowledge across multiple domains. You’ll typically focus your work on the domain(s) of your specialty or preference, but a strong multi-domain awareness and ability is required. You should have a curiosity to learn new technology.
- Tangible: You’ll work on applied research programs to conceive and develop prototypes to solve cutting-edge, complex problems.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
- Advanced development skills in Python.
- Hands-on development experience in Cybersecurity.
- Modern development practices and toolsets (Git, subversion, CI/CD toolchains).
- Experience running docker containers.
- Experience developing in and administering Linux, using bash.
- Experience with Networking Protocols.
- Experience with configuring Network devices.
- A passion to learn something new every day and to stay up-to-date with developments in your field.
- Adept at independent problem-solving and comfortable with a general approach of taking initiative to find and develop solutions.
- Active Top Secret clearance and the ability to obtain SCI and pass a polygraph.
- U.S. Citizenship
Desired Skills:
- Expertise in one or more: C, C++, and/or Java.
- Ability to grasp the “big picture” and see beyond specific problems.
- Network emulation frameworks including CORE, EMANE, and/or MiniNet.
- Experience with threat intelligence research.
- Experience with SMT solvers.
- A current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
