The Network Security Operations Engineer will have accountability for deploying and updating networking tools and managing access while maintaining security and improving resiliency. Because we are a small agile team, the Network Security Operations Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and will require a strong ethic of accountability.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and maintain network SOPS for industry leading zero-trust deployments.
- Deliver to project timelines for network tool deployment, maintenance, and updates.
- Maintain and enhance network automation code in an efficient way to support development, deployment, and security goals via Net Sec Ops pipelines.
- Ensure integrity of backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Test for vulnerabilities and develop operational plans for remediation.
- Assess impact and scope of customer requests for special network configuration. Develop small prototypes when needed to test viability or align customer expectations.
Required experience and skills:
- Firewall and switch configuration.
- Programming and scripting using Python and Ansible.
- Experience with one or more Network Configuration Managers.
- Attention to detail.
- Troubleshooting expertise, VPN and L2/L3 network layers.
- Windows, Linux, and virtualization (VMware preferred).
- Application of continuous learning to improve Network Security, efficiency, and automation.
- CI/CD pipelines with Network Security.
- Typically, 6+ years of hands-on network experience.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent experience will be considered.
- Technical Cybersecurity Certification through one of the recognized bodies preferred: SANS, ISACA, (ICS)2, CompTIA, Cisco, CERT etc.
