Works under supervision to install data network infrastructures. Install cabling plant for use with the data communications network of workstations and printers. Supervises multiple projects and analyzes infrastructure for proper utilization and installation. Assists in the installation of voice communications equipment. Responsible for data/video cabling products, standards, and implementation practices, including Category 5, and fiber optic technologies. Responsibilities include detailed, complex cabling designs for existing buildings and new construction.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education:
Require a Bachelor’s or Associate degree from an accredited college or university in related field. Extensive experience with structured wire operations may be considered in lieu of degree.
Experience:
Require experience in data communications diagnostics, managing projects, excellent verbal and written skills and knowledge of EIA/TIA and NEC standards is preferred.
Additional skills/abilities:
One year complex cable plant installation in cable environments. Certification in EIA/TIA and NEC cabling standards installation preferred. Ability to manage stressful work environment when changing priorities.
