The District Attorney’s Office seeks a motivated and detail-oriented Network Administrator with a strong foundation in cybersecurity to join our IT team to advance the mission of the DA’s Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and improving our network infrastructure, ensuring high levels of performance, security, and availability. This role involves a blend of technical skills in network administration and cybersecurity practices to protect our data and systems from cyber threats. A range of experience for this vacancy will be considered and a candidate’s qualifications will determine the level at which they are hired.
Network Administrator I: responsible for the basic network system configuration and support duties with a high degree of supervision, direction, and guidance. This position will work together with the Network Team to provide high quality voice, data, and wireless network services for Adams County.
Network Administrator II: responsible for mid-level installation, configuration, and support of network infrastructure equipment with a moderate level of supervision, direction, and guidance. This position will work together with the Network Team to provide high quality voice, data, and wireless network services for Adams County.
Network Administrator III: responsible for the high-level installation, configuration, and support of network infrastructure equipment with a minimal level of supervision, direction, and guidance. This position will work together with the Network Team to provide high quality voice, data, and wireless network services for Adams County.
The District Attorney's Office has elected to consider a range of experience for this vacancy. A candidate's qualifications will determine the level at which they are hired.
Network Administrator I: $70,900.71 - $102,806.02 (Annually)
Network Administrator II: $79,664.03 - $122,443.62 (Annually)
Network Administrator III: $94,881.14 - $137,577.65 (Annually)
Examples of Duties for Success
General Duties:
- Install, configure, and support the organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system.
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Confer with network users about how to solve existing system problems.
- Administer network security measures to prevent system interruptions or breaches.
- Execute and maintain network security policies and procedures, including firewall administration, intrusion detection systems, and vulnerability scanning.
- Implement and manage network hardware and software, troubleshoot network problems, and ensure network security, availability & performance standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of cybersecurity policies and procedures and conduct regular system audits.
- Stay current with the latest technologies and security trends to advise on security enhancements and potential improvements to network efficiency.
- Collaborate with IT department members to offer technical support and training to other employees on network security and usage.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Experience with crowdstrike EDR
- Experience with information and event management
To be successful, our candidate should have the following knowledge, skill, and abilities:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Basic Cisco routing and switching, and familiarity with Cisco IOS operating systems
- High level of competence and familiarity with TCP/IP and the OSI Model
- Ability to configure, troubleshoot and manage the following: VLANs, DNS, DHCP
- Knowledge of basic data and telecom cabling standards
- Ability to perform well under pressure and in disruptive environments
- Ability to adapt and learn in a rapidly changing environment and solve complex problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to do basic firewall configuration and management.
- Experience using Sonicwall and Checkpoint firewalls is desirable
- Knowledge of basic network and data security standards and principles
- Knowledge of basic data and telecom cabling standards
- Ability to work independently and take initiative with little or no supervision Ability to perform well under pressure and in disruptive environments
- Ability to adapt and learn in a rapidly changing environment and solve complex problems
- Ability to plan, lead, and execute projects
- Ability to travel to other facilities as required within the scope of the job.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
- Requires long periods of sitting at a desk, up to 8 hours a day.
- Repeated movements including standing, sitting, kneeling, lifting, and bending in and around desks, server rooms, and data centers.
Qualifications for Success
Minimum qualifications and skills specific to each level:
Network Administrator I
- A minimum of one year of progressive experience in Cisco routing and switching in a small to medium network environment
- Education and Training: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent level of job experience and/or training is required
- License or Certificate: 1. Possession of Cisco CCNA Route/Switch certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire required
- Background Check: Must pass a criminal (CBI) background check
- Ability to periodically work outside regular business hours on emergency network issues
Network Administrator II
- A minimum of three years of progressive experience in Cisco routing and switching in a small to medium network environment
- Education and Training: High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent level of job experience and/or training is required
- Possession of Cisco CCNA Route/Switch certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire required
- Must pass a criminal (CBI) background check
- Ability to periodically work outside regular business hours on emergency network issues
Network Administrator III
- A minimum of six years of progressive experience in Cisco routing and switching in a medium to large network environment
- Education and Training: A Bachelor’s Degree in Networking, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field OR an equivalent level of job experience and/or training is required
- Possession of Cisco CCNA Route/Switch certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire required
- Must pass a criminal (CBI) background check
- Ability to periodically work outside regular business hours on emergency network issues
